With Gordon Ramsay – I have co-authored five
with the UK's most famous chef. Passion for Flavour
(1997 Glenfiddich Best Cookbook of the year), Passion for
Seafood, A Chef for All Seasons, and Just
Desserts (Winner of GFW Cookery Book of 2002). Working
with Gordon is a joy. I am fortunate to have one of the best cookery
teachers ever and he has taught me the most incredible skills and
techniques, which I adapt for home cooks.

The Real Food Handbook
– the French, I find, are not always good cooks but they do
know how to shop for good food! Knowing what and how to buy food
is the prime requirement of eating well. A useful background book
packed with facts about the foods we see on sale.

The Green Diet –
a book for non-meat eaters to help them control their diet with
weight loss tips. Well reviewed.

Modern German Food –
one of the few English cook books on the subject. The Germans have
a healthy respect for food, which must rate as some of the best quality
in the world. It's not all sauerkraut and sausages. |

| |
The Ultimate Vegetarian – a
big work full of delicious flesh free dishes celebrating the versatility
of vegetables, pulses and grains. Subsequently split into smaller
off-shoots. I often receive flattering e-mails from around the world
on this book.

Walker Book of Children's
Cookery – with Caroline Waldegrave. I am a firm believer
in getting children stuck into cooking as early as possible so they
grow up with a love of good food. Children who cook are rarely faddy
eaters.

The Cheese Encyclopaedia
— co-authored with Juliet Harbutt, creator of recipes. |

But perhaps my favourite book was a children's
food book written to illustrate Graham Percy's 36
Strange Little Animals Waiting to Eat (Stewart, Tabori
and Chang 1992) giving his enchanting drawings character, life and
hearty appetites. |
